My mother, Ethyl Gooch, made the nylon seersucker dressing gown for my wedding trousseau during 1956. For a year she was sewing wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses, summer dresses and skirts, as my sister's wedding was six months later in the year. Many yards of fabric and thread were cut; it was the 50's.

Unfortunately Mother died in 1983 but her answer would have been that 'clothes making for two daughters was a sheer pleasure and rewarding seeing them on their wedding days going up the aisle.'
